Description

Guinea Daro

This Guinea Daro comes from Macenta Beans which is a new washing station in the south-east of Guinea, West Africa. They aim to produce one of the best Robusta coffee in the world from the unique terroir of the Macenta region. Surrounded by the Ziama Massif, a UNESCO protected natural reserve, the coffee grows embedded agroforestry system. Rich soil and plenty of rainfall during the rainy season result in sweet and complex coffee cherries. Through state-of-the-art processing techniques, they preserve the inherent qualities of this unique Coffea canephora.

In the mountains and rainforests of Guinea a unique ecosystem could hold the secret to the future of coffee. The UNESCO-protected Macenta region offers some of the world’s best soil and harvesting conditions for sustainable coffee farming. Yet currently there is still no quality single-origin coffee from this extraordinary terroir on the market.

Macenta Beans was started because they wanted to bring something new and exciting to your favorite coffee shop — and transform the lives of Macenta’s farming communities who for too long have been unable to realize the potential of their coffee.

With the single-origin specialty Robustas they’re developing at Macenta Beans, they’re pioneering a new category in the $100billion global coffee market, one that boosts biodiversity, reduces carbon footprint, empowers growers and tastes incredible in your latte.

For coffee farmers climate change is not some distant threat — it’s here and it’s already happening. At Macenta Beans they’re taking a different path — to build a sustainable coffee future for our farmers, our customers, and our children.

Guinea is one of the original birthplaces of coffee, yet a dominant system of cash crops undermining quality has prevented farmers from providing the kind of stewardship this magnificent terroir deserves. For decades the world’s coffee lovers have been denied the true coffee of Macenta. Until now.
